Assessment Process Flow

about-section-image

A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive process that involves gathering information regarding a child, to be able to make a clinical determination about his or her current level of functioning in critical areas of development. The process includes probing information about the child’s home, family, school and community, physical developmental, medical history, communication, social and emotional development, intellectual ability and academic achievement. The process includes observation and interviews, as well as the administration of various standardized assessment measures.

At Mico CARE a psychoeducational assessment may be done over several hours or over a few days, depending on the nature of the assessment and the availability of the required information. It is therefore essential that the parent or guardian accompanying a child for an assessment is able to provide accurate information regarding all areas of development, as this is an important part of the assessment process.
